'It's official - we're together.'
Exclusivity; the key to any stable relationship.
To say that you and your significant other are exclusive, is stating that you want them all to yourself for however long you're together - and if you are deeply in love, you are convinced that this will be forever.
As human beings, I think that when we're in a relationship, we want exclusivity. We want that person to be ours, and only ours. It's not that we're selfish, it's just that we're searching for that ultimate connection. Everybody wants a person that just gets them, a person with whom you're not scared to be yourself. It sounds predictable and overdone in all those romcom films, but it really is true. We feel it with every relationship we have, be that friendship, family or love. The friend you have that is a socialite, making new friends by the day. Or when a sibling is born, and you feel like the time you have with your mother is slowly being cut away. Okay - so we are selfish.
But we're human beings; jealousy is intergral to our survival, to spurr us on in pursuit of something more.
And let's face it, more is always more.
♥Lydia.
